The growing need for on-demand network and compute resources is outpacing available internal resources, even in private cloud environments, and is driving organizations to the public cloud. According to IDC, 75% of organizations are currently implementing or considering the implementation of public cloud resources, and they predict that 50% of enterprise workloads will migrate to the public cloud by 2018.  This new shared infrastructure approach comes with significant security challenges, including creating and maintaining a consistent... It seems like CSOs are always seeing flashing red lights on their security dashboards these days, warning them of another breach or risk of compromise. There are so many security events happening day in and day out that it’s difficult to decide what’s the top priority. That’s a good metaphor for the state of cybersecurity efforts across the globe – we’re in a constant state of flashing red. That is, if we even see the attack coming, which we increasingly don’t. Recent breach disclosures, once again, show that... [Read More]

Today, the billions of online IoT devices present an even more daunting challenge because they generally don't receive the level of control, visibility, and protection that traditional systems receive. Coupled with widespread automation-based attacks, the potential for damage is even greater. Recent developments, outlined below, reveal why it's time to take IoT security seriously. [Read More]

This change is also causing OT and IT to fight over the control of digital ground. While OT is growing, it is primarily growing into the spaces usually controlled by IT as it is being bolted onto the same networks that phones, routers and laptops touch. This is creating a whole range of security challenges that neither group has ever had to deal with in the past and affects the delivery of applications and information that reaches all the way into the executive suite. Over the past ten years, technology has transformed healthcare substantially. From electronic health records that simplify the collection and sharing of patient information, to digital consultation and other services provided remotely, to wearable connected medical devices, healthcare is becoming more accessible, accurate, and patient-focused. National Health IT (NHIT) Week, which will take place from October 2nd- 6th, is a collaborative and partner-driven event that aims to increase awareness of the many ways new health IT initiatives stand... Over the past several months the news has been full of reports about cybercriminals using malware to shut down devices or networks, steal data, or hold it for ransom. During the second quarter of 2017, over 184 billion total exploits were documented, coming from nearly 6,300 unique exploits. This is an increase of 30% over Q1. While most of these attacks targeted large, commercial networks, there has also been a large spike in such activities targeting the devices and data of individual users. Some of these attacks, like having your... [Read More]

Fortinet just released its Global Threat Landscape Report for Q2. Much of the data it provides is just what you’d expect. For example, FortiGuard Labs detected 184 billion total exploit attempts in Q2 from 6,300 unique and active exploits. Not only is this is an increase of 30% over Q1, with the growth of IoT and Shadownet resources we expect these numbers to continue to rise dramatically. In addition, 7 in 10 organizations experienced high or critical exploits during the quarter. By any measure, these are alarming numbers.  [Read More]

Going wireless with a customer’s network and cloud was once a leap. Now it’s simply the next step. According to Cisco’s latest Global Cloud Index, 92% of workloads will be processed in cloud data centers by 2020, and research from IDG shows worldwide spending on public cloud service will grow to more than $141B by 2019. As the use of the cloud grows, however, the potential attack surface becomes substantially larger and organizations are exposed to new risks. But that’s not all. While technology is evolving, so are customer... [Read More]
